Abstract

The aim of this study is to systematically reveal the trends, methods used and focused themes in the field by examining the publications in the field of cyberchondria. In this context, publications on the subject of cyberchondria in TR Dizin, Dergi Park and Google Academic databases were scanned. The study covers 122 articles determined by criterion sampling. Document analysis technique was used in the data collection process; descriptive content analysis method was used in the evaluation of the articles. The articles included in the review were evaluated according to publication year, number of authors, journal published, keywords, research method, data collection method and sample group. Frequency and percentage distributions were calculated for data analysis. As a result of the study, it was found that the most frequently studied themes were cyberchondria and psychological dimensions and the effects of Covid-19 and the pandemic, that the most research was conducted in 2024 (30.3%) and that the quantitative method was used the most in the research (94.3%). The findings show that academic interest in the subject of cyberchondria has increased especially with the pandemic process and that research is largely conducted on the axis of health anxiety, preferring quantitative methods and surveys. It is expected that this study will fill an important descriptive gap regarding the concept of cyberchondria and serve as a resource that will form the basis for future studies in this field.
