Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between workaholism levels and job satisfaction levels of individuals coaching in individual and team sports. Relational survey design, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the study. 242 people participated in the study. Personal information form, Workaholism Scale and Job Satisfaction Scale were used in the study. The data were analyzed in SPSS 25 program. When the data were examined, the independent samples t-test was used for two-group comparisons, and Pearson correlation analysis was used for the relationship analysis between the scales. As a result of the analysis, no significant difference was found between the groups according to the gender of the coaches. A low level of negative correlation was found between participants’ age and workaholism level, sub-dimensions, and job satisfaction level. While there was no significant difference in the levels of excessive, compulsive and workaholism according to the coaching branch, it was found that individual sports coaches experienced higher levels of job satisfaction than team sports coaches. According to the status of working in the national team, a significant difference was observed only in the level of overwork; it was found that the overwork scores of the coaches who did not work in the national team were higher. There was no significant relationship between the participants’ years of coaching and the level of workaholism and its sub-dimensions and job satisfaction levels. In terms of the relationship between the scales, a moderate positive and significant relationship was found between excessive work, compulsive work, workaholism, and job satisfaction levels.
