Abstract

The impact of the knowledge and skills students gain during their education on their employment opportunities after graduation is one of the main topics that academic research focuses on. In this context, the research was conducted to examine the relationship between career awareness and employment concerns of students receiving sports education in the lifelong learning process. The study group of the research consists of university students (n=161). In the analysis of the study, frequency, percentage values and descriptive statistics were used. Since the data were normally distributed, T-test was used for pairwise comparisons, Anova test for three and more than three comparisons, Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the relationship between scales and some variables. When the results of the study were analysed, no significant difference was found between the scale and its sub-dimensions with the variables of gender, age, class, internet usage and the department you study. In addition, there was no significant difference between career awareness, professional readiness, career consciousness, professional self-confidence and anxiety about finding a job in the reason of preference variable. A significant difference was found in the anxiety of finding a job with the variable of the department you are studying and with the professional development sub-dimension in the reason for preference. When the relationship between the scales was analysed, it was concluded that there was a negative and low level relationship between the participants’ total career awareness scale and its sub-dimensions and the anxiety about finding a job scale. The results suggest that increasing students’ career awareness and preparedness may slightly reduce job anxiety, but this effect is limited.
