Abstract

This study aims to examine the levels of professional readiness and lifelong learning tendencies of individuals preparing for the KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Examination) and to determine whether these variables differ according to gender, age, and KPSS study duration. Accordingly, the research was designed within the framework of a relational and comparative survey model. The Professional Readiness Scale for Teaching and the Lifelong Learning Tendency Scale were used as data collection tools. Analyses were performed using SPSS 25.0 software, and parametric tests, as well as eta-squared (η²) and Cohen's d effect sizes, were calculated. The findings show a weak positive correlation between professional readiness and lifelong learning tendencies. Regarding age, a significant difference was found between the 18-22 and 23-27 age groups in terms of student development readiness and total readiness scores. Furthermore, a significant difference was found in the sub-dimension of readiness for student development according to KPSS study time, with this difference favoring those who studied 0-2 hours. In conclusion, it can be said that the professional readiness and lifelong learning tendencies of prospective teachers are only minimally affected by demographic variables, but study time may have an effect on some dimensions. In addition, the findings were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature, and practical suggestions for improving teacher training programs were presented.
