Abstract
This study aimed to examine the effects of diet and resistance exercise on body composition through a methodological approach. Fifteen healthy volunteers with a mean age of 29.53 years participated in an eight-week intervention involving a low-calorie, high-protein diet combined with resistance exercises performed three times per week. Anthropometric and physiological parameters, including height, body weight, body mass index (BMI), body fat mass (BFM), lean body mass (LBM), and basal metabolic rate (BMR), were measured at baseline, mid-intervention, and post-intervention. Additionally, participants’ daily intake of calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins was recorded and analyzed. Statistical analyses revealed significant differences between pre-, mid-, and post-test results (p<0.01). Over the eight-week period, significant reductions were observed in body weight, BMI, BFM, and BMR, while LBM showed relative preservation. These findings support the role of resistance training in reducing fat mass while maintaining muscle mass. Furthermore, the low-calorie, high-protein diet contributed to weight loss, indicating the effectiveness of dietary restriction when combined with exercise. The results align with existing literature and underscore the potential of combined diet and resistance training interventions in improving body composition. In conclusion, despite the limited sample size, the study demonstrates that combined dietary and resistance exercise interventions can positively influence body composition. The findings provide a foundation for future research involving larger and more diverse populations to further investigate these effects.
