Turkish adaptation of the intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship motivation scale: A validity and reliability study

Department of Maritime Business Management, Samsun University, Türkiye

Abstract

The aim of this study is to adapt a scale measuring employees’ intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship motivation into Turkish and to examine its psychometric properties. A total of 213 voluntary participants working in the medical/healthcare, technology, logistics, aviation and manufacturing sectors in different cities of Türkiye (Istanbul, Ankara, Samsun and surrounding provinces) were included in the study. Following the ethics committee approval, data were collected between May and June 2026 using an online survey method. Construct validity of the scale was tested by exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Reliability was examined with Cronbach’s Alpha and McDonald’s Omega coefficients. EFA revealed a two-factor structure explaining 53.5% of the total variance. CFA results showed that the two-factor model had an acceptable fit (CFI = 0.964, TLI = 0.957, RMSEA = 0.059, SRMR = 0.045). Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients were 0.92 for the intrapreneurship dimension and 0.84 for the entrepreneurship dimension. For convergent validity, average variance extracted (AVE) values were calculated as 0.59 for intrapreneurship and 0.499 for entrepreneurship. Discriminant validity was confirmed by HTMT (0.505). Items G10, G11 and G12 from the original scale were excluded due to low factor loadings. The final scale consists of 15 items: 9 items for intrapreneurship and 6 items for entrepreneurship. The results indicate that the Turkish adapted scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool.
