About the Journal
The Journal of Family & Community Studies is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes interdisciplinary academic studies examining the family as a social institution. The journal's primary goal is to highlight original research that examines the relationships between family, marriage, divorce, parenting, gender, intergenerational relationships, and social structures from a scientific perspective, and to contribute to the field theoretically, empirically, and methodologically.
The journal supports academic work focusing on family and community studies from disciplines such as sociology, psychology, social work, anthropology, education sciences, law, health sciences, and communication. In this context, the journal encourages studies addressing both micro-level family relationships and interactions and macro-level connections between social change, modernization, policies, demographic dynamics, and family structures.
The journal publishes studies focusing on the following themes:
- Family sociology, family structures, and transformations
- Marriage, divorce, relationship sociology, and intra-family processes
- Parenting practices, childhood studies, care work
- Gender roles, women's studies, and intra-family power dynamics
- Domestic violence, conflict, mediation, and resolution mechanisms
- Migration, social change, cultural diversity, and the family
- The welfare state, family policies, and social support systems
- Aging, intergenerational solidarity, and caregiving relationships
- Family health, mental health, and family-oriented practices
- Digitalization, social media, and their effects on family life
- Community work, social capital, and solidarity networks
- Original research using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods
- Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and theory-based studies
The journal prioritizes methodological diversity, giving preference to field-based studies with high theoretical depth that focus on social benefit. Research that approaches the family not merely as an individual unit but as a dynamic structure in constant interaction with cultural, economic, political, and social processes is particularly encouraged.
