Aims & Scope

Journal of Family & Community Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal publishing interdisciplinary research that examines the family as a social institution. The primary aim of the journal is to enhance the visibility of original studies that scientifically investigate the relationships among family, marriage, divorce, parenting, gender, intergenerational relations, and broader social structures, and to contribute theoretically, empirically, and methodologically to the field.

The journal supports scholarly work on family and community studies across disciplines including sociology, psychology, social work, anthropology, educational sciences, law, health sciences, and communication. In this context, the journal encourages studies that address both micro-level family interactions and relationships, as well as macro-level connections between family structures and social change, modernization, public policies, and demographic dynamics.

The journal publishes studies focusing on, but not limited to, the following themes:
• Family sociology, family structures, and transformations
• Marriage, divorce, relationship sociology, and intra-family processes
• Parenting practices, childhood studies, and care work
• Gender roles, women’s studies, and power dynamics within the family
• Domestic violence, conflict, mediation, and resolution mechanisms
• Migration, social change, cultural diversity, and family
• Welfare state, family policies, and social support systems
• Aging, intergenerational solidarity, and care relations
• Family health, mental health, and family-oriented practices
• Digitalization, social media, and their impacts on family life
• Community studies, social capital, and solidarity networks
• Original research using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods
• Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and theory-based studies

The journal values methodological diversity and prioritizes field-based and theoretically robust studies that contribute to social benefit. Research that conceptualizes the family not merely as an individual unit but as a dynamic structure continuously interacting with cultural, economic, political, and social processes is particularly encouraged.
