Journal of Health, Rehabilitation and Sports Sciences applies an Article Processing Charge of: USD 250 per accepted article.
The Article Processing Charge is requested only after the manuscript has successfully completed the editorial assessment and peer-review process and has been formally accepted for publication.
No fee is charged at the time of manuscript submission.
No payment is required for manuscripts that are rejected or withdrawn by the authors prior to formal acceptance.
Services Provided Without Additional Charge
Authors are not charged separately for any of the following services:
- Manuscript submission;
- Preliminary editorial assessment;
- Peer review;
- Manuscript revision;
- Rejected manuscripts;
- Manuscripts withdrawn prior to acceptance;
- Page length;
- Colour figures, tables, or graphics;
- Supplementary files and materials; or
- DOI assignment.
No additional, supplementary, or undisclosed publication fees are charged beyond the stated Article Processing Charge.
Services Covered by the Article Processing Charge
The Article Processing Charge contributes to the costs associated with the following publishing services:
- Online manuscript submission and editorial management;
- Administrative coordination of the peer-review process;
- Similarity screening and publication ethics checks;
- Technical editing and typesetting;
- Preparation of final publication files;
- DOI registration and metadata management;
- Online publication and dissemination;
- Digital archiving and preservation; and
- Maintenance of long-term access to the published article.
Editorial Independence
Payment of the Article Processing Charge does not guarantee the acceptance or publication of a manuscript.
Editorial decisions are based exclusively on the manuscript’s:
- Scientific quality;
- Originality;
- Methodological rigour;
- Relevance to the aims and scope of the journal; and
- Compliance with research and publication ethics.
Editors and reviewers are not involved in payment, invoicing, discount, or waiver decisions.
An author’s ability or inability to pay the Article Processing Charge does not influence the editorial assessment, peer-review process, or final publication decision.
Waivers and Discounts
Authors who do not have access to institutional, project-based, or external funding for publication expenses may request a partial discount or full waiver.
Waiver and discount requests should preferably be submitted by the corresponding author at the time of the initial manuscript submission and should include a brief justification.
Requests may be considered in the following circumstances:
- The corresponding author is affiliated with an institution located in a low-income or lower-middle-income country;
- The research has not received financial support from an institution, project, or funding body; or
- The authors are experiencing documented financial hardship that prevents payment of the publication fee.
All waiver and discount requests are treated confidentially and evaluated independently of the editorial and peer-review processes.
Submitting a waiver or discount request does not influence the acceptance or rejection of the manuscript.
Payment and Invoicing
Following formal acceptance, an invoice is issued to the corresponding author, the author’s institution, or another designated paying organisation.
The invoice includes the following information:
- Title of the accepted manuscript;
- Amount payable;
- Payment currency;
- Payment method;
- Payment deadline; and
- Any applicable taxes or bank transaction charges.
Payment instructions are communicated only through the official communication channels of the journal or publisher.
The Article Processing Charge applicable to a manuscript is determined according to the fee displayed on the journal website on the date of the manuscript’s initial submission. Any subsequent fee changes introduced during the evaluation process do not apply retrospectively to manuscripts already under review.
Withdrawal and Refund Policy
Authors may withdraw their manuscript prior to formal acceptance without incurring any fee.
Where an accepted manuscript is withdrawn before technical editing or production has commenced, the Article Processing Charge may be refunded after the deduction of unavoidable bank or transaction costs.
Once technical editing, typesetting, DOI registration, or other production processes have begun, the Article Processing Charge is normally non-refundable if the manuscript is withdrawn at the authors’ request.
A full refund is provided in the following circumstances:
- A duplicate payment has been made;
- An overpayment has occurred;
- The fee has been collected in error; or
- The accepted article cannot be published due to circumstances attributable to the journal or publisher.
The Article Processing Charge is normally non-refundable after publication.
Retraction, removal, or withdrawal of a published article due to ethical misconduct, research integrity concerns, legal issues, or comparable reasons does not entitle the authors to a refund.
Policy Updates
Any changes to the Article Processing Charge or waiver conditions are announced transparently on the journal website.
Revised fees apply only to manuscripts submitted after the effective date of the updated policy.
