Evaluatıon of bosu squat, front squat, overhed squat traınıngs ın terms of strength, flexıbılıty and balance

Abstract

This study examined the effects of BOSU squat, front squat, and overhead squat training on isokinetic knee strength, flexibility, and balance in young male athletes. Twenty-nine participants aged 18–24 years were randomly assigned to three groups and completed an eight-week training program consisting of three sessions per week. Each group performed the training protocol according to the designated squat variation. Assessments included isokinetic knee strength measured by dynamometer, flexibility evaluated by the sit-and-reach test, and balance assessed by the flamingo test. At the end of the training period, no significant differences were observed between groups in isokinetic knee strength (p>.05). In contrast, significant improvements were found in flexibility and balance within all groups (p<.05), with no significant differences detected among groups. These findings indicate that different squat variations contribute to improvements in flexibility and balance in young athletes, whereas short-term implementation may not be sufficient to enhance isokinetic peak strength. The study suggests that squat variations can be safely integrated into training programs targeting flexibility and balance, while increases in isokinetic strength may require longer or more intensive protocols.
