Opinions of physical education and sports college coaching department students on stress and factors affecting performance in sports
Abstract
Sport plays a significant role in the physical and psychological development of individuals, and determining the impact of stress on performance constitutes the main purpose of this study. This research examined the opinions of students studying at Bartın University School of Physical Education and Sports who actively participate in sports regarding the factors that affect stress and performance in sports. The data were collected through a questionnaire, and the results were analyzed using the SPSS 27.0 statistical package program. Frequency and percentage distributions were calculated, and the Chi-Square test was applied to examine the relationships between variables. According to the analysis results, students’ opinions regarding anxiety and stress levels did not show a statistically significant difference based on gender or class variables. This finding indicates that students experience similar stress levels and that these variables do not have a determining effect on performance. The results suggest that it is important to increase awareness of stress management and performance among student athletes and to emphasize the need for educational support programs in this area.
