A total of 130 male and 80 female archers from different categories participated in the study and completed a motivation scale. Data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, and LSD tests. According to the gender variable, significant differences were found in the factors affecting motivation, such as coach and athlete role behaviors, psychosocial development, competition excitement, and individual life satisfaction (p<0.05). No significant differences were observed in other subdimensions (p>0.05). In terms of gender, significant differences were also found in the coach's psychosocial competence and the athlete's social life subdimensions (p<0.001). According to the age variable, significant differences were found in all motivational subdimensions except for achievement expectation (p<0.05 and p<0.001). Additionally, in relation to being a national athlete, significant differences were determined in the coach’s psychosocial competence and reward expectation dimensions (p<0.001). No significant differences were found in other variables (p>0.05).

Conclusion: Based on the findings, the most important factors affecting the motivation of archers with sports education were psychosocial development and the coach’s psychosocial competence. Moreover, demographic variables such as gender and age were also found to influence motivation. Accordingly, individuals responsible for motivating archers should adopt approaches that consider the athletes' gender, age, and expectations. Particularly at the national team level, it is recommended that coaches be more qualified and competent, as they play a critical role in enhancing athletes’ motivation levels.
2025-05-19T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Optimal Zenith Sport Sciencehttps://rrpubs.com/index.php/jozss/article/view/2015Athlete Identity, Psychological Durability and Fan Pressure On Social Media2025-08-01T23:30:54+03:00Mehmet DERELİOĞLUmehmetderelioglu61@hotmail.com
This study examines the psychosocial effects of social media on athletes from a multidimensional perspective. The primary aim of the research is to evaluate how social media platforms influence athletes’ identity construction, image management, mental health, and relationships with fans in light of current literature. The study seeks to reveal how the digitalization of sports intersects with individual psychology and social dynamics. Social media has become not only a communication medium for athletes but also a central arena for personal branding, sponsorship relations, self-presentation strategies, and fan interaction. Visibility on platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube is now considered as important as athletic success. However, this digital visibility also brings with it psychological issues such as stress, anxiety, social comparison, body dissatisfaction, and burnout. Expectation-based pressure derived from social media increases emotional vulnerability and leads athletes to base their self-perception on external approval. Furthermore, with the digitalization of fan culture, the athlete-fan relationship has become both closer and more fragile. Echo chambers created by fans on social media intensify polarization and cancel culture, thereby increasing psychosocial pressure on athletes. This situation leads not only to positive feedback but also to the intensification of toxic interactions that threaten athletes’ emotional integrity. The findings of the study indicate that the effects of social media on athletes are not limited to visibility or communication, but also deeply influence psychological well-being, self-esteem, gender representation, and collective belonging. Accordingly, it is recommended that social media literacy programs for athletes be developed, psychological resilience training be expanded, and fan behaviors be regulated within an ethical framework. Moreover, gender representations in media practices should be structured in an egalitarian manner, and women athletes should be represented free from bias in digital visibility. Increasing interdisciplinary research on the impact of social media in the field of sports will contribute to the construction of a more conscious, sustainable, and ethical digital sports culture.
2025-05-19T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Optimal Zenith Sport Sciencehttps://rrpubs.com/index.php/jozss/article/view/2014An Examination of Career Adaptability Skills Among Faculty of Sport Sciences Students2025-08-01T23:30:53+03:00Muhammet KUSANmuhammetkusan0055@gmail.com
The aim of this study is to determine the career adaptability skills of university students and to examine whether these skills differ according to socio-demographic variables such as gender, class level, academic department, and income level. The population of the research consists of students studying at the Faculty of Sport Sciences at Ondokuz Mayıs University, and the sample comprises 170 students selected from this population through a random sampling method. Data were collected using a personal information form and the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale – Short Form (CAAS-SF), originally developed by Savickas and Porfeli (2012), adapted into Turkish by Işık et al. (2018), and consisting of four sub-dimensions: concern, control, curiosity, and confidence. To analyze the data, normality assumptions were tested using Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests. Differences between two groups were analyzed using Student’s t-test, while differences among three or more groups were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA and Tukey’s post-hoc test. According to the results, female students scored significantly higher in career adaptability than male students, while no significant differences were found based on class level, academic department, or income level. In this context, it is recommended that guidance and counseling programs aimed at improving career adaptability be designed in a way that specifically enhances awareness and skill levels among male students.
2025-05-19T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Optimal Zenith Sport Sciencehttps://rrpubs.com/index.php/jozss/article/view/2013Body Culture and Wrestling Tradition in the Ottoman Empire2025-08-01T23:30:52+03:00Syimyk ARSTANBEKOVsportmastervoot@mail.ru
This study examines the historical development of the wrestling tradition by focusing on the cultural, moral, and social meanings attributed to the body in the Ottoman Empire. In the Ottoman intellectual system, the body was regarded as a carrier of discipline, spirituality, and social belonging, and wrestling was seen not only as a physical activity but also as a means of conveying social identity and values. Pehlivanlık was constructed as a way of life identified with moral integrity and physical maturity. With the proclamation of the Republic, sport became an ideological tool, and wrestling was institutionalized within the framework of modernization policies but distanced from its traditional conceptual world. Although events such as Kırkpınar have been preserved under the status of cultural heritage, the educational and moral dimensions of wrestling have been reduced to the level of ceremonial representation. The article evaluates the transformation of the concept of bodily discipline from the Ottoman period to the present, through both the historical and contemporary representations of wrestling, and discusses the sustainability of this cultural heritage.
2025-05-19T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Optimal Zenith Sport Science
