Abstract

This study aims to examine the level of compliance of football coaches with professional ethical behaviours and to analyse whether these behaviours differ in terms of demographic variables such as gender, age, marital status, educational status, perceived income level, coaching license level and years of experience. 154 football coaches, 132 male and 20 female, actively coaching football at different levels in Istanbul, Turkey, participated in the study. The data were collected through Google Forms application between 2024 December and 2025 January between 2024 December and 2025 January with questionnaires including questions about demographic information created by the researchers as well as statements about the Coaches' Professional Ethical Behaviours Scale developed by Kayır and Özbek (2019). In the analysis of the data, firstly, it was determined whether the data were normally distributed. Then, since it was determined that the data were not normally distributed, non-parametric tests were used. According to the results of the analysis, it was determined that the levels of Coaches' Professional Ethical Behaviours for football coaches differed significantly according to the variables of age and perceived income level, but did not differ significantly according to the variables of gender, marital status, educational status, coaching licence level and coaching experience. Accordingly, it can be said that as the age and perceived income level increase, the ethical behaviour levels of coaches increase, but other demographic variables are not a determining factor on professional ethical behaviours.
