Abstract

Understanding how university students’ past experiences and psychological resilience shape their vision for the future is important for supporting their academic and personal development. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of childhood experiences and psychological resilience levels of students in the Faculty of Sport Sciences on their future vision. The research was conducted using a quantitative research method and designed as a cross-sectional survey model. The population of the study consisted of students enrolled in the Faculty of Sport Sciences at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University during the 2025–2026 academic year. A total of 366 students, selected through a simple random sampling method, constituted the sample of the research. During the data collection process, the Positive Childhood Experiences Scale, the Brief Resilience Scale, and the Future Vision Scale were used. The data obtained were analyzed using the Jamovi 2.6.44 software program. Independent samples t-test, Welch ANOVA, and linear regression analysis were applied in the data analysis process. The results revealed that the students had high levels of positive childhood experiences, psychological resilience, and future vision. A significant difference in psychological resilience was found according to gender, with male students scoring higher. While no difference was observed in terms of age, a significant difference was detected only in the pessimism sub-dimension with respect to grade level. Linear regression analysis indicated that positive childhood experiences and psychological resilience positively predicted future vision. In conclusion, it can be stated that past experiences and psychological resilience play an important role in the development of a vision for the future.
