In this study, which examines the life, minstrelsy and various distinguished works of Âşık Süphanî from Bayburt, one of the living representatives of the minstrel tradition, field research, unstructured interview and content analysis methods were used. In order to reach information about the life and minstrelsy of Âşık Süphanî, a face-to-face interview was conducted with him. The works of Âşık Süphanî included in the scope of the study were analyzed and classified within the framework of the discipline of Turkish folk music and Turkish folk literature in terms of various features such as form, genre, subject content, syllabic meter, form, melodic structure, rhythmic structure and progression structure and were shown in a table. As a result of the study, it was found that Âşık Süphanî was a representative of the tradition who could apply very important practices of the âşık tradition such as âşık squabbles, leb değmez, improvisational playing and singing, themes such as idiom-advice, beautification, love-reproach, love-passion, bravery-heroism, humor-satirization were handled in the 7 works in the examined koşma form, and the works were created in literary genres such as folk song, idiom, koçaklama and beautification in terms of subject content. It is anticipated that this study will be important in terms of bringing a living representative of the âşık tradition to the literature and being a source for subsequent studies.
