Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop a scale to determine middle school students’ affective entry characteristics for mathematics course. The steps followed in the study were: doing literature review and developing item pool, getting expert opinion, piloting the scale, analysing if there are missing, wrong and extreme values, analysing the distribution of the scale points, making item analysis, and testing reliability and validity. The data were collected from 440 students. As a result of item, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, the final scale is composed of 20 items with one factor structure. Cronbach’s Alpha internal consistency coefficient for the scale was .947. Spearman-Brown split-half reliability coefficient was calculated as .940. Based on these results, it can be said that the scale is a reliable and valid tool to determine affective entry characteristics for mathematics course.debates on abortion site nyc abortion clinics
