The effect of mental well-being on academic self-efficacy

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the effect of mental well-being on academic self-efficacy of students receiving sports education at undergraduate level. The study group of the research consists of a total of 204 students, 113 of whom are female (55.4%) and 91 of whom are male (44.6%), studying at a public university. As a data collection tool in the research; Personal information form, Mental Well-being Scale and Academic Self-efficacy Scale were used. It was determined that the mental well-being and academic self-efficacy levels of the participants were above average. It was determined that the participants' mental well-being and academic self-efficacy levels did not differ according to gender. It was determined that the grade level of the participants did not differ according to mental well-being, but as the grade level increased, academic self-efficacy increased. Another result obtained from the research is that mental well-being predicts academic self-efficacy by 33%.
