Abstract

This present research aimed to develop the scale of content area teachers’ beliefs toward using reading skills in their subject matters. The data for factor analysis and Cronbach’s Alpha internal consistency reliability was obtained from a total of 247 preservice teachers. The scale, which is consisted of 36 items, revealed one-factor model and explained 31% variance. Factor loading of the scale ranged from .30 to .76. Item-total correlations were from .30 to .71. Beside this, the internal consistency (Cronbach’s Alpha= ?) .93. The item analysis of 27% upper and lower group means calculation yielded a statistically significant “t values”. Additionally, confirmatory factor analysis resulted good and pretty high fit indices.
