Examining the attitudes of athletes towards healthy nutrition and their psychological well-being levels

The aim of this study is to examine the healthy nutrition attitudes and psychological well-being levels of athletes within the framework of various variables and to reveal the relationship between the two factors. The study included 315 athletes, 168 females and 147 males, with an average age of 23.91±6.32. Participant Evaluation Form, Attitude Scale Towards Healthy Nutrition, Psychological Well-being Scale were applied to the participants. Descriptive statistics, Independent Sample T Test, and Pearson Correlation Analysis were used in the analysis of the data. In the study, it was determined that healthy nutrition attitudes and psychological well-being levels did not differ statistically according to the gender and branches of the participants (p<0.05). Another finding of the study is that there is a moderate positive relationship between healthy nutrition attitudes and psychological well-being of athletes regardless of gender and branch (p<0.001). As a result of the study, it can be concluded that athletes' attitudes towards healthy nutrition and their psychological health are related, and this does not change according to branch and gender. In this regard, it can be stated that improving athletes' healthy eating attitudes enhances their psychological well-being, while an increase in psychological well-being contributes to the improvement of their healthy eating attitudes.
